Commission approves €1 billion Slovak State aid scheme for cleantech manufacturing under CISAF
On 16 June 2026, the European Commission approved a €1 billion Slovak scheme to support manufacturing capacity for clean technology in line with the Clean Industrial Deal. The measure, notified by Slovakia under the Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework (CISAF) adopted on 25 June 2025, will take the form of grants and income tax relief, available for both SMEs and large enterprises investing in new cleantech manufacturing capacity. The scheme meets Article 107(3)(c) TFEU criteria and may be granted until 31 December 2030. Executive Vice-President Teresa Ribera stated the scheme will give flexibility for investments critical to a net-zero economy. The case is recorded under State aid number SA.122800.

Commission approves €85 million Irish State aid for agricultural companies impacted by fuel price hikes
On 16 June 2026, the Commission approved an €85 million Irish State aid scheme under the Middle East Crisis Temporary State Aid Framework (METSAF) adopted 29 April 2026. The measure will provide direct grants up to €0.20/litre of fuel for agricultural producers, addressing increased fuel prices related to the Middle East crisis between March and July 2026. The Commission found the scheme (case SA.123329) conforms to Article 107(3)(c) TFEU and the requirements set out in METSAF.
2026 State of the Digital Decade report: progress and persistent challenges
The European Commission published its fourth State of the Digital Decade report, assessing advancements towards 2030 digital transformation targets across core infrastructure, digital skills, and public services. While the EU achieved 96.8% household 5G coverage, and over 60% basic digital skills uptake, gaps remain in semiconductors (9% global share versus a 20% target), ICT skills (specialists at 5% of employment, short of the 10% target), and SME adoption of advanced technologies. The report, endorsed by Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen, recommends an updated funding strategy and stronger EU-level coordination. Member States will discuss national roadmap updates at the Digital Decade Board in Nicosia on 18-19 June 2026.
Commission reviews progress on 'One Europe, one Market' Roadmap
The first progress report on the 'One Europe, One Market' Roadmap was presented on 17 June 2026, following the Joint Declaration on legislative priorities for 2026. The Commission, Council, and Parliament affirmed quarterly monitoring of legislative delivery, with Presidents von der Leyen, Christodoulides, and Metsola reiterating their commitment to implement key Single Market measures by the end of 2027. The Cyprus Presidency foregrounded competitiveness and access for citizens and businesses.

Commission initiates review of anti-dumping and countervailing measures on biodiesel from the US, exemption request for Canadian producer
Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1341 of 17 June 2026 (OJ L 2026/1341) initiates a review under Article 13(4) of Regulation (EU) 2016/1036 and Article 23(6) of Regulation (EU) 2016/1037 concerning anti-dumping and countervailing duties on US-origin biodiesel extended to Canadian consignments. The request for exemption was submitted by Braya Renewable Fuels (Newfoundland) LP, reflecting no exports during the original investigation period. Imports are registered pending the outcome. The regulation repeals anti-dumping duties for the applicant, with continued review for countervailing measures.
Tariff agreement with the US adopted by Parliament, sunset and safeguard clauses included
The European Parliament adopted, on 16 June 2026, a regulation eliminating tariffs on US industrial goods and extending preferences to seafood/agricultural products, incorporating a sunset clause to end benefits by 31 December 2029 unless renewed. Safeguard mechanisms and a suspension clause cover US tariffs on EU steel and aluminium derivatives. Both proposals implement the 2025 Turnberry statement and require formal Council approval before entry into force.

Parliament adopts deal to strengthen EU air passenger rights
On 17 June 2026, Parliament and Council negotiators reached a final agreement updating air passenger rights rules, with compensation levels confirmed and measures for greater transparency and faster reimbursements. The new regulation maintains rights for delays, cancellations, and denied boarding, and introduces further protections for vulnerable passengers. Plenary vote is due in July under the third reading procedure.
Parliament votes to simplify chemical, cosmetics, and fertiliser rules, aligning with Draghi competitiveness plan
An agreement on the sixth 'chemicals omnibus' package was reached by Parliament and Council on 17 June 2026. The revised rules accelerate the removal of hazardous substances in cosmetics, introduce flexible and digital labelling for chemicals, and maintain registration requirements for harmful fertiliser substances. The law is intended to reduce the administrative burden and support EU industry competitiveness, with projected compliance cost savings of at least €363 million annually.

Council prepares conclusions on cyber violence and demographic trends in housing policy
The Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (Social policy configuration) is scheduled for 29 June 2026. Ministers will approve conclusions on cyber violence against girls and examine the link between demographic trends and housing, with discussions planned on housing security, labour mobility, and the EU Anti-Poverty Strategy.

REGI Committee adopts opinion on CAP amendments: protein sector and school scheme reform
On 17 June 2026, the REGI Committee (rapporteur Valentina Palmisano) adopted its opinion on the proposal to amend Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 for the Common Agricultural Policy, covering changes to the school fruit, vegetables, and milk scheme, the creation of a protein sector, new hemp requirements, revised marketing standards for cheese and meat, and supply rules for emergencies.
JURI Committee considers draft report on adaptation of Lisbon Agreement regulations for GIs
On 18 June 2026, rapporteur Dainius Žalimas presented the JURI Committee's draft report on the amendment to Regulation (EU) 2019/1753, aligning it with changes adopted by the Assembly of the Lisbon Union to the Common Regulations under the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications.
IMCO Committee issues draft opinion on Digital Omnibus simplification proposal
On 15 June 2026, rapporteur Alex Agius Saliba tabled the IMCO Committee's draft opinion on the Commission's proposal (Digital Omnibus) to amend and repeal selected digital and data legislative acts, aiming to harmonise and reduce complexity in the digital framework.

On 16 June 2026, rapporteur Susana Solís Pérez submitted the ENVI Committee's draft report amending Directives 2008/98/EC, 2010/75/EU, (EU) 2015/2193, and (EU) 2024/1785 to reduce administrative burden and simplify environmental regulatory obligations.
