Federal Investment of $1.2 Million Bolsters Tourism and Cultural Experiences in Nova Scotia

ACOA has announced $1.2 million for five hospitality operators and two cultural non-profits in Nova Scotia. Funding targets design-forward luxury cabins at Auberge Doucet, renovation and upgrades for Whale Cove Beach Resort, all-season wilderness cabins for Live Life In Tents, experiential accommodation and premium wellness offerings at Cabot Shores Wilderness Resort, infrastructure upgrades at Two Rivers Wildlife Park, fire system upgrades at Bauer Theatre, and cultural infrastructure expansion for Theatre Baddeck Society. These projects expand capacity, add premium guest experiences including heated cabins and geodomes, improve operational efficiency, and enhance regional competitiveness. Planned upgrades are intended to diversify tourism revenue streams and create full-time jobs. Recipients are located across Cape Breton and Antigonish, positioning the region for year-round visitation and increased group and cultural tourism.

FedNor Invests Over $200,000 to Spur Tourism in Rainy River District

FedNor allocated $206,733 for tourism expansion in the Rainy River area. The Atikokan Economic Development Corporation receives $171,108 to launch an integrated booking system linking hotels, lodges, and outfitters with AI-enabled online solutions, aiming to attract new visitors and elevate client experience. The Town of Fort Frances receives $35,625 for marina infrastructure upgrades at Sorting Gap Marina, supporting small business development and programming expansion. Both projects are designed to stimulate local economic growth, modernize amenities, and foster a stronger tourism business network.

Nova Scotia Seafood Academy Launches with Federal Support

Devour! Studios in Wolfville, NS, has received $135,000 from ACOA to develop and deliver the Nova Scotia Seafood Academy, a three-day culinary experience aimed at home chefs and culinary travellers. Participants engage in hands-on seafood preparation, sustainable sourcing, and immersion in local products and stories. The pilot program creates new hospitality experiences that can be packaged with local accommodations and restaurants. This investment is intended to expand culinary tourism and leverage Nova Scotia’s seafood sector for broader destination appeal.

StatsCan Reports Sharp Uptick in International Arrivals to Canada
