Certification overhaul for New Zealand animal products entering the EU
Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2026/1936 of 5 August 2026 replaces Decision (EU) 2015/1901 and introduces new certification rules and a model health certificate for entry into the Union of consignments of live animals and products of animal origin from New Zealand. The updated provisions reflect changes in the Agreement between the EU and New Zealand, harmonising with Regulation (EU) 2017/625 and Regulation (EU) 2016/429. New attestations regarding antimicrobial use, humane treatment, additional animal health requirements, and electronic certification via TRACES are included. The Decision sets transitional periods: certificates conforming to the prior model are valid until 2 March 2027; only new certificates apply from 3 March 2027. The measures follow consultation with the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed and are signed by Ursula von der Leyen.
Durability multipliers set for Euro 7 heavy-duty vehicles
Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2026/1216 of 9 June 2026 amends Regulation (EU) 2024/1257, specifying durability multipliers for gaseous pollutants of heavy-duty vehicles of categories M3, N2, and N3. Based on technical assessment and Euro VI engine data, the multiplier is set at 1.2 for these vehicle types, aligning requirements with lighter vehicle categories. This clarification applies for the additional lifetime period extending 25% beyond the main lifetime, effective twenty days after publication.
Anti-dumping duty revised for Chinese iron or steel fasteners
Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1926 of 7 August 2026 amends Regulation (EU) 2022/191 on anti-dumping duties for iron or steel fasteners from the People’s Republic of China. Following a request by Ningbo Orange Hardware Co., Ltd., the Commission determined the company met criteria for a new exporting producer treatment and assigned it a reduced duty rate of 39.6%, consistent with cooperating companies not included in the original sample. The entry is added to the Annex of the 2022 Regulation, effective immediately.
