According to the latest Eurobarometer survey published on 21 September 2026, 95% of Europeans consider agriculture and rural areas important for Europe's future, while 93% say securing a stable food supply is crucial. The survey, conducted between May and June 2026 across all 27 Member States, found 70% believe the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) benefits all Europeans, citing achievements in food security, reasonable prices, and sustainable resource management. Quality and origin of food are the most important factors for European consumers, with nearly eight in ten respondents valuing EU origin. The Commission will launch a new 'European food' campaign, as announced in President von der Leyen's State of the Union speech.
