Expansion of Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program
On March 6, 2025, the Canadian government announced enhancements to the Canada Student Loan forgiveness program to attract healthcare professionals to rural and remote areas. The revised program now includes communities with populations of 30,000 or fewer, potentially bringing over 900 additional doctors and nurses to these regions in the next decade. The scheme aims to boost healthcare access for approximately 1.7 million Canadians. Additionally, plans are underway to extend the benefit to 10 other professions, including teachers and social workers. The government is seeking public comments on these proposed regulations until March 17, 2025.

Investment in Official Languages Projects
The Government of Canada allocated more than $8.5 million on March 5, 2025, to support projects that promote the vitality of official languages. The funding will aid five organizations, with notable allocations including $3.64 million for developing minority-language postsecondary education and $2.77 million for initiatives targeting French immersion students.
