• House Judiciary Subcommittee to address Missing and Murdered Indigenous People: The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance will hold a hearing titled 'Missing and Murdered Indigenous People: Strengthening Public Safety in Tribal Communities' on September 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Rayburn House Office Building. The session is expected to review public safety measures and federal oversight.
• Senate Indian Affairs Committee examines native communities' housing needs: The Senate Indian Affairs Committee will conduct an open hearing on September 16, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Dirksen Senate Office Building on housing needs in native communities, including discussion of S.5354 to reauthorize the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act of 1996.
• House Natural Resources Committee markup of bills on animal rights, tribal acts, and civil rights networks: The House Natural Resources Committee will meet on September 15, 2026, at 2:15 p.m. in the Longworth House Office Building to consider markups for numerous bills affecting animal protections, tribal interests, and civil rights, among them H.R. 181, H.R. 7954, H.R. 8483, and H.R. 9269.
• House Oversight Subcommittee hearing on fraud in federally funded homelessness services: The House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency will hold a hearing titled 'Fixing Fraud and Failure in Federally Funded Homelessness Services' on September 15, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in Rayburn. Witnesses invited include Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and representatives from the Los Angeles Alliance for Human Rights and the Discovery Institute.
