Canada’s Clean Technology Trade Data for 2024 Published

Statistics Canada reports Canada exported $20.2 billion in environmental and clean technology (ECT) products in 2024, a 5.2% decrease from 2023. Imports of these products climbed 2.8%, reaching $35.8 billion. ECT products comprised 2.0% of Canada’s total imports and 3.5% of total exports for the year. The new dataset provides details by origin and destination, allowing manufacturers of equipment and materials in the clean tech sector to assess shifts in international demand and supply. These trade figures may signal supply chain adjustment needs and sectoral dependencies for firms positioned within environmental goods.

Industrial Product and Raw Materials Price Indexes – January Data

January’s Industrial Product Price Index posted a month-over-month increase of 2.7% and was up 5.4% year-over-year, according to new Statistics Canada data. The Raw Materials Price Index also rose, climbing 7.7% in January and 8.0% compared to January of the previous year. These broad-based price increases affect manufacturing costs for inputs such as metals, chemicals, and plastics. Manufacturers may see pricing volatility influence procurement, inventory management, and contract arrangements as input cost pressures persist.

December Mineral Production Data Available

Monthly Mineral Production Survey figures for December 2025 are now published by Statistics Canada. The dataset includes information from Canadian smelters and metal refineries, providing details on output levels and input requirements relevant for upstream and downstream industrial operators. The data supports analysis of trends across base metals and critical input commodities for the manufacturing and processing industries.

Manufacturing Sales Up in December; Decline in Petroleum Subsector

Statistics Canada’s Monthly Survey of Manufacturing showed a 0.6% rise in Canadian manufacturing sales for December 2025. Increased sales in motor vehicles and food products drove the gains, while the petroleum and coal product subsector saw the most notable decline. Segment-level insights provide context for output and supply chain planning, especially as activity in automotive and food manufacturing lifted overall performance despite subdued petroleum-related sales.
