Canada Publishes Accessible Service Delivery Standard ASC-5.2.1

Accessibility Standards Canada announced the release of ASC-5.2.1: Accessible Service Delivery on June 1, consolidating requirements for accessible services under a single national standard. Key provisions require organizations to offer services in multiple accessible formats, use plain language, meet individual needs promptly, and involve people with disabilities in designing services. Staff training and protocols for service disruptions are also mandated. The standard was finalized following broad public review during National AccessAbility Week, and it was developed largely by technical committee members from disability and equity-deserving communities. It introduces structured requirements expected to affect guest interactions, operational training, and digital/physical touchpoints throughout organizations serving the public.
