- Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions: Business meeting on organ transplant discrimination, reauthorization of child and cancer initiatives, ALS therapies, FDA patent submissions, and biological product interchangeability: The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee is scheduled for a business meeting on June 17 at Dirksen Senate Office Building Room 430. The agenda includes S.1782 (organ transplant discrimination), S.3799 (Healthy Start reauthorization), S.4109 (Stem Cell Therapeutic Act reauthorization), S.2339 (Young Women's Breast Health Education Act reauthorization), S.4472 (ALS therapies reauthorization), S.2658 (FDA patent communication), S.3014 (citizen petitions), and S.1954 (biological product interchangeability determination).
Legislative Updates
Cost-Free Primary and Behavioral Care Bill: H.R. 9257
Bill 9257 proposes amendments to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, Public Health Service Act, and Internal Revenue Code, mandating group health plans and insurers to cover three primary care visits and three behavioral health care visits annually with no cost-sharing. The bill is currently referred to Energy and Commerce Committee, as well as Education and Workforce and Ways and Means.

Cost-Free Primary and Behavioral Care Bill: S. 4754
Bill 4754, mirroring H.R. 9257, directs health plans and insurers to provide three annual primary and behavioral health care visits without cost-sharing. The bill was read twice and referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions.

Coverage for Drugs Treating Autoimmune and Blood Disorders: H.R. 9192
Bill 9192 would amend federal health statutes to require insurance coverage for drugs used in treating autoimmune diseases and specified blood disorders. It has been referred to the House Committees on Energy and Commerce, Education and Workforce, and Ways and Means.

Medical Student Education Program—Menopause Training Requirement: H.R. 9273
Bill 9273 directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to mandate public institutions receiving Medical Student Education grants to incorporate menopause training in their curricula. The proposed legislation is now with the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
