CITES Amendments Reflected in EU Wildlife Trade Regulation
Commission Regulation (EU) 2026/1383 of 22 June 2026 (CELEX: 32026R1383) amends Council Regulation (EC) No 338/97 to update EU rules on trade in endangered species. The measure incorporates changes from the 20th Conference of the Parties (CoP20) to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), Samarkand, 24 November–5 December 2025. New and revised species listings and annotations impact fisheries species such as Mobula spp. The updated regulation enters into force three days after publication in the Official Journal L, 2026/1383.
Amendment to TSG 'Moules de bouchot' Specification Approved
Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1391 of 16 June 2026 (CELEX: 32026R1391) approves an amendment to the product specification of the traditional speciality guaranteed (TSG) ‘Moules de bouchot’. The change follows the procedure outlined in Regulation (EU) 2024/1143, with no statement of opposition received. The act was published in Official Journal L, 2026/1391 and is effective twenty days post-publication.

Agriculture and Fisheries Council Reviews Common Fisheries Policy
The Agriculture and Fisheries Council met on 22 June 2026 for an evaluation of the common fisheries policy regulation. Ministers also considered the European Commission's communication on sustainable fishing and future orientations for 2027.

PETI Considers Petitions on Andalusian Fisheries and Western Mediterranean Plan
At its meeting on 22–23 June 2026, the Committee on Petitions (PETI) discussed two fisheries-related submissions: Petition No 0519/2026 by Manuel Fernández Belmonte (Federación andaluza de Cofradías de Pescadores), addressing challenges for Andalusian fisheries in the Strait of Gibraltar, and Petition No 0712/2026 by J. M. G. G. (Federación Andaluza de asociaciones Pequeras), relating to the revision of the Western Mediterranean Multiannual Plan. Both petitioners participated in the sessions, one remotely.
