Minister Champagne to Launch 2026 Pre-Budget Consultations
On July 6, 2026, François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Finance and National Revenue, will launch the 2026 pre-budget consultations with a roundtable discussion alongside the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. The event in Ottawa will provide opportunities for industry stakeholders to engage with federal finance officials on supporting Canada’s economy and sectoral prosperity. Media will be permitted to attend the Minister’s opening remarks. The consultations aim to gather input regarding the government’s approach to fiscal policy, taxation, and sector-specific supports ahead of the next budget cycle.

Québec AMF Announces Recognition of the Chambre de l'assurance and CIRO Amendments
The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) confirmed the effective date for the recognition order for the Chambre de l'assurance and amendments for the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), both taking effect July 4, 2026. These changes transfer mutual fund dealer oversight to CIRO and responsibility for scholarship plan dealer representatives to the AMF.

Ontario Brings Financial Sector Statute and Regulation Changes into Force
Effective July 1, 2026, amendments to the Credit Unions and Caisses Populaires Act provide the Financial Services Regulatory Authority CEO with expanded tools to intervene when a credit union encounters financial difficulties, aiming to stabilize deposits and protect the system.
