White House Unveils National AI Legislative Framework
President Donald Trump announced a national AI legislative framework, setting six objectives: safeguarding children in digital environments, strengthening communities through economic growth and energy reliability, protecting intellectual property while enabling AI to learn, ensuring free speech by establishing guardrails, eliminating barriers to innovation and fostering U.S. AI global leadership, and preparing an AI-ready workforce via skills training. The administration calls for Congress to enact uniform federal policies to avoid inconsistent state laws and urges collaboration to turn the framework into actionable legislation.

Fact Sheet: U.S.-Japan Alliance Initiatives Announced
President Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi disclosed measures to fortify the U.S.-Japan alliance across defense and economic dimensions. Agreements feature enhanced market access for U.S. agricultural exports, $73 billion in Japanese investments in U.S. energy, and supply chain resilience actions, including a Critical Minerals Action Plan. Science/technology collaboration will expand, focusing on AI, quantum technologies, and space exploration with upcoming lunar and Martian missions. Japan will increase its defense budget, deploy advanced capabilities, and expand missile production. Both leaders restated commitments regarding Taiwan Strait stability and North Korea denuclearization.

Operation Epic Fury: U.S. Military Action Against Iran
Operation Epic Fury, directed by President Trump, is reported as a substantial blow to Iran's military and terrorist capabilities. Over a three-week period, U.S. forces destroyed Iran’s air/naval assets, ballistic missile infrastructure, and more than 7,000 targets. Democrats’ DHS Shutdown Enters Day 35
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown has reached 35 days, impacting over 100,000 DHS employees—50,000 of whom are TSA officers—working without pay for the third time in six months. Major airports have experienced hours-long lines and rebooked flights due to staffing shortages, with critical DHS functions including FEMA disaster response and cybersecurity operations now strained. Arms Sales Notification: Singapore Maritime Patrol Aircraft and Torpedoes
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency published a proposed foreign military sale to Singapore for four P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft valued at $2.316 billion. Included are Guardian laser transmitter assemblies, acoustic/radar systems, MX-20HD EO/IR sensors, MK 54 lightweight torpedoes, engineering/training support, and classified/unclassified publications. Up to fourteen U.S. Government and contractor representatives will travel to Singapore for fielding, maintenance, training, and logistics support over two years.
