Agreement on EU-led Forces Status in Djibouti for EUNAVFOR ASPIDES
The Official Journal L 2026/1946, published 19 August 2026, contains the full text of the Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Djibouti concerning the status of EU-led forces in Djibouti. The agreement sets out the legal framework for the European Union maritime security operation EUNAVFOR ASPIDES, focusing on safeguarding freedom of navigation in the Red Sea. Key provisions cover privileges and immunities for EU personnel, operational scope, facilities, and procedures for claims and dispute resolution. The agreement entered into force on signature, with initial review after twelve months, and renews annually unless terminated.
Council Decision (CFSP) 2026/1947 on EU-Djibouti Agreement for EUNAVFOR ASPIDES
Council Decision (CFSP) 2026/1947 of 21 April 2026, published in OJ L 2026/1947 on 19 August 2026, formally approves and authorises the signing of the Agreement between the EU and Djibouti on the status of EU-led forces for EUNAVFOR ASPIDES. The Decision follows Council Decision (CFSP) 2024/583 and negotiation initiated on 4 April 2024. Kaja Kallas, President of the Council, signed the Decision, which enters into force upon adoption.
Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1960 Amends ISIL/Al-Qaida Sanctions List
Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1960 of 20 August 2026, published in OJ L 2026/1960, amends for the 359th time Council Regulation (EC) No 881/2002. The amendment updates Annex I, reflecting changes decided by the UN Sanctions Committee on 13 and 14 August 2026, pursuant to UNSC Resolutions 1267(1999), 1989(2011), and 2253(2015). The Regulation is binding and directly applicable in all Member States from the day following publication.
