HUD RFI on BABA-Compliant Products for Housing Construction

The Department of Housing and Urban Development issued a Request for Information on June 18, seeking public input to assess the availability of domestically manufactured products needed for housing and infrastructure projects funded by HUD, pursuant to the Build America, Buy America Act. HUD is collecting detailed data from manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and stakeholders regarding compliance with BABA standards, particularly for products like HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, door hardware, elevators, fire suppression systems, solar panels, electrical components, and wood trusses. Information provided will help determine which products are available from U.S. sources, their BABA compliance status, and production capacity. The responses may inform future waivers and guidance for the implementation of domestic content requirements across federal housing programs. Comments are due by July 20, 2026.

White House CEQ to Host Permitting Innovators Expo

The White House Council on Environmental Quality, in coordination with NASA’s Center of Excellence for Collaborative Innovation, announced the Permitting Innovators Expo for July 31, 2026 in Arlington, Virginia. The event will feature demonstrations of advanced permitting technologies aimed at expediting environmental reviews for infrastructure projects. Attendees will include federal agencies, policymakers, and industry leaders, and sessions will provide best practices. Top solutions from the CEQ’s prior Permitting Innovators Call will be highlighted, and a Permitting Innovators Solutions Catalog is expected later in 2026. Registration is limited and available through an online interest form.

FHWA Information Collection on Highway Construction Training Program Grants

The Federal Highway Administration announced a new information collection request concerning performance measures for the Highway Construction Training Program Grant. State departments of transportation, local and territorial governments, and educational institutions will report quarterly and annual metrics on entrants, completions, job placements, median wages, retention, educational enrollments, credentials, and skill gains. The HCTP is funded at $4.2 million, with grant awards capped at $300,000. This effort supports workforce development and is part of federal initiatives to address highway construction employment challenges. Public input on the collection’s utility, burden, and quality is invited, with comments due by July 17, 2026.

Labor Department Solicits Comments on Davis-Bacon Wage Classifications

The Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division issued a notice on June 15 seeking comments regarding the extension of its information collection for conformed wage classifications and unconventional fringe benefit plans under the Davis-Bacon Act, Related Acts, and Contract Work Hours and Safety Standards Act. Respondents, including businesses and not-for-profit institutions, provide reports that help ensure proper wage and benefit classifications for federally funded construction contracts. The Department proposes no changes in requirements, estimating 8,738 conformance reports and 120 fringe benefit plan submissions annually. Written comments are due by August 14, 2026.

HUD Proposes Revision to Public Housing Waiting List Data Collection

On June 18, HUD requested public comment on a proposed revision to its Public Housing Waiting List Data Collection Tool, required by Section 103 of the Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act of 2016. All public housing agencies must annually report the total number of families on waiting lists and over-income families residing in public housing. The reporting uses the electronic tool and leverages existing income data from Form HUD-50058. Public comment is sought on the necessity, accuracy, and efficiency of the collection, with an estimated burden of 2,681 respondents and 1,341 annual hours. Comments are due by July 20, 2026.

Commerce Department Reviews Procedures for Steel and Aluminum Tariff Adjustments

The Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration published a notice on June 18 inviting public comment on its information collection related to procedures for steel and aluminum producers seeking tariff adjustments under Proclamation 10984. The process is designed for firms committing to new U.S. production capacity supporting domestic supply chains for automobiles, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, and related parts. Eligible companies with facilities in Canada or Mexico supplying U.S. manufacturers may apply for reduced tariffs based on their investment plans. National Homeownership Month Proclaimed by President Trump

President Trump issued Proclamation 11036 on June 12, declaring June 2026 as National Homeownership Month.
