CBSA Initiates Dumping Investigation on Oil Country Tubular Goods from Multiple Countries
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has initiated an investigation under the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) into alleged injurious dumping of oil country tubular goods from Mexico, the Philippines, certain producers in Türkiye and Korea, and specific U.S. producers, as of August 11. These tubular goods include casing, tubing, and green tubes used in oil and gas extraction, defined according to American Petroleum Institute specification 5CT and related standards.

Canadian International Trade Tribunal Starts Preliminary Injury Inquiry on Oil Tubular Imports
The Canadian International Trade Tribunal has launched a preliminary injury inquiry into whether the dumping of oil country tubular goods, as identified in the CBSA investigation, is causing, has caused, or threatens to cause injury to domestic producers. The inquiry covers goods meeting specific diameter and chemical composition requirements, originating from Mexico, the Philippines, selected exporters in Türkiye and Korea, and Tenaris S.A. in the United States, but with explicit product exclusions outlined in the notice.

StatsCan Publishes June Data on Oil and Gas Transportation and Storage
Statistics Canada has released June 2025 data sets on the transportation and storage of crude oil and other liquid petroleum products, as well as natural gas transmission, storage, and distribution. These data are now available for industry review. The information may inform analysis on midstream sector volumes, capacity utilization, and potential bottlenecks within the Canadian oil and gas network for the relevant period.

July Data on Refined Petroleum Products Production and Inventory Available
Production and inventory figures for refined petroleum products in Canada for July 2025 have been made available by Statistics Canada. Access to this data requires a request to StatsCan, and it provides details on throughput and inventory levels across Canadian refining operations for the month.

StatsCan Releases Industrial Product and Raw Materials Price Indexes for July
The Industrial Product Price Index rose by 0.7% month over month in July 2025, and was up 2.6% compared to July 2024. The Raw Materials Price Index increased 0.3% month over month, up 0.8% on an annual basis. These price movements can affect project economics and cost structures within the Canadian oil and gas industry.

Treaty One Nations Advance Naawi-Oodena Development with Federal Infrastructure Funding in Winnipeg
On August 21, the Honourable Mandy Gull-Masty, Minister of Indigenous Services, announced a further $789,490 in federal support for the Naawi-Oodena urban reserve development in Winnipeg, increasing total planning and training funding to approximately $5.5 million through both Crown-Indigenous Relations and Indigenous Services Canada. The Naawi-Oodena project, led by Treaty One Nations, is among the largest First Nation-led economic development zones in Canadian history and includes energy infrastructure components such as the recently opened Oodena Gas & Convenience Store.

PHMSA Finalizes Major Pipeline Safety Regulatory Update Incorporating 19 New Industry Standards
The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) has published a final rule, effective January 10, 2026, amending pipeline safety regulations (49 CFR Parts 191, 192, 195) to incorporate by reference 19 revised industry standards. These updates cover voluntary technical specifications from organizations such as API, ASME, ASTM, NFPA, AMPP, and others, affecting areas ranging from design and fabrication of tanks, pipelines, and fittings to welding and corrosion assessment.

U.S.-EU Framework Agreement Features Major LNG Procurement and Energy Cooperation
The United States and European Union announced a framework agreement on August 21, aiming to enhance reciprocal trade and investment. The agreement features the EU’s elimination of tariffs on U.S. industrial goods and expanded access for U.S. agricultural products, while in turn, the United States will adjust certain tariffs on EU imports. Notably, the EU has committed to significant procurement of U.S. liquefied natural gas, alongside AI chips and defense equipment, with further commitments on energy security cooperation and mutual recognition of standards.

FERC Issues Environmental Assessment for North Lansing Gas Storage Expansion Project in Texas
On August 19, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) released an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Gulf Coast Storage Expansion Project by Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America LLC. The project includes approximately 5.9 miles of 30-inch-diameter pipeline loop, new pigging facilities, and a 12,000 horsepower compressor at the North Lansing Storage Field in Harrison County, Texas.

Ontario Fines Brampton Company $144,000 for Furnace Explosion Injuries
Metex Heat Treating Ltd. was fined $144,000 following a furnace explosion that injured two workers; the Ontario Court found breaches of the Occupational Health and Safety Act regarding provision of protective gear.
