Canada's Indigenous Justice Strategy Launched

Atikamekw of Opitciwan First Nation Signs Self-Government Agreement
On March 11, 2025, Indigenous Services Canada and the Atikamekw of Opitciwan First Nation, Quebec, signed a bilateral agreement for self-government in child and family services. The agreement provides $78 million over two years, based on the Atikamekw social protection law, enabling culturally adapted services. This agreement represents a collaborative effort with the Province of Quebec and aims to enhance community governance.
