Celebrating 15 Years of the National Shipbuilding Strategy
On March 21, 2025, Public Services and Procurement Canada marked the 15th anniversary of the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) in St. Catharines, Ontario. Since 2010, the NSS has delivered 8 large and 34 small vessels to the Royal Canadian Navy and Canadian Coast Guard. This initiative has contributed $38.7 billion to Canada's GDP and created over 21,400 jobs annually. Ontario Shipyards is currently engaged in the largest vessel life extension project for the CCGS George R. Pearkes and Terry Fox.

Canadian Aerospace Innovation with MDS Coating Technologies
On March 21, 2025, the Government of Canada announced a partnership with MDS Coating Technologies in PEI to expand its facility, doubling production capacity. Supported by the Strategic Innovation Fund, the $100 million project focuses on manufacturing environmentally friendly nano-coating technologies for aircraft engine blades, aiming to enhance performance and reduce carbon emissions.

HMCS Harry DeWolf Returns from Operation CARIBBE
On March 22, 2025, HMCS Harry DeWolf returned to Halifax, Nova Scotia, after a successful deployment under Operation CARIBBE. During the mission, the ship seized 750 kilograms of cocaine with the assistance of the US Coast Guard and Colombian assets. This operation underscores the effective collaboration between Canada and regional partners in counter-narcotics efforts.
