Saskatchewan Announces $1.8 Million in Community Airport Infrastructure Improvements
On April 25, 2025, Saskatchewan Highways Minister David Marit announced more than $1.8 million in infrastructure upgrades across eight community airports. Funded jointly by the provincial government and airport operators through the Community Airport Partnership (CAP) program, projects include runway revitalization, drainage improvements, and security fencing. The largest allocation—$550,000—will support drainage system improvements in La Ronge, while other communities will see investments in taxiway rehabilitation and resurfacing. Work is scheduled for the 2025 construction season.

Amendments to United States Surtax Orders on Steel and Aluminum Now in Effect
Effective April 9, 2025, amendments to the United States Surtax Order (2025-1) and the United States Surtax Order (Steel and Aluminum 2025) are now in force, as published in the Canada Gazette, Part II, Volume 159, Number 9. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has been tasked with administering these updated tariff orders. Importers will be informed of relevant compliance and enforcement details through an upcoming Customs Notice. The changes pertain to the ongoing management of tariffs on select goods from the United States, with implications for the supply chain and sourcing of affected materials in the aviation sector.
