Canada Imposes 25% Tariffs on U.S. Vehicles

Effective April 9, 2025, Canada will impose 25% tariffs on non-CUSMA compliant vehicles and non-Canadian/Mexican content of CUSMA-compliant vehicles imported from the U.S. These measures are a direct response to U.S. tariffs on the Canadian auto sector. Goods already in transit on the effective date are exempt. The remission framework aims to incentivize domestic production and investments, maintaining Canadian jobs.
