Canada Invests Over $2.8 Million in New Brunswick Cultural Infrastructure
The Government of Canada has announced more than $2.8 million in funding for cultural infrastructure in New Brunswick. This investment, through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund, supports five cultural organizations. The Fredericton Region Museum will receive $48,040 for renovations, enhancing artifact storage and security. Under One Sky Monoqonuwicik-Neoteetjg Mosisisg Inc. receives $1.5 million, and Fredericton Playhouse Inc. gets $1.2 million. Additionally, smaller grants were awarded to the Saint John Theatre Company Inc. and la Coopérative de Théâtre l’Escaouette Ltée. These investments are expected to bolster the cultural sector, driving economic activity and enhancing cultural preservation.

Alanis Obomsawin Retrospective Set for MoMA PS1
An extensive retrospective of renowned Indigenous filmmaker Alanis Obomsawin's work will be on display at MoMA PS1 in New York this spring. The exhibition, titled 'The Children Have to Hear Another Story,' showcases Obomsawin's multifaceted career and contributions to Indigenous cinema over six decades. Following successful runs in Berlin, Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal, this exhibition will open on March 27, 2025. Obomsawin's work, including 64 films made with the National Film Board of Canada, offers significant insights into Indigenous issues and has been pivotal in amplifying marginalized voices.
