Government Invests Over $35 Million in Sustainable Agriculture
On February 17, 2025, the Government of Canada announced a $35.3 million investment, partly funded under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, to support Quebec farmers in adopting sustainable practices. This funding initiates the fourth enrolment period of the Rétribution agroenvironnementale and aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and pesticide usage. Up to 1,200 farm businesses will be eligible for support, with each business potentially receiving $50,000 over two growing seasons.

Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Program Renewed for 2025
The governments of Canada and Saskatchewan announced continued funding for the 2025 Crop Insurance Program on February 19, 2025. This program, administered by the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation, has paid approximately $7 billion in claims over the past four years. Saskatchewan producers are encouraged to apply or modify their insurance coverage by March 31, 2025. The program is a federal-provincial-producer cost-shared initiative.
