Maximum Grain Revenue Entitlements for Crop Year 2023–2024
The Canadian Transportation Agency determined that CN's revenue was below and CPKC's was above their maximum grain revenue entitlements for the 2023–2024 crop year. CN's grain revenue was $34.3 million below its entitlement, while CPKC exceeded its entitlement by over $1.8 million. CPKC must pay the excess amount plus a penalty to the Western Grains Research Foundation. The crop year saw a 3.5% decrease in Western grain volumes, attributed to lower crop exports.
